February 16th Devotion

Mark 6:25-27 (NIV)
25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter." 26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John's head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison,

Herod was not the first or the last person to have an oath come back to haunt them. After all, God is really the only one who has control over every situation. More than once, I have told my children, “This is going to cost you more than you are willing to pay, you just don’t know it yet.”

Jesus went so far as to warn us against swearing an oath.

Matthew 5:33-37 (NIV)
33 "Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' 34 But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Hi friend, peace...

Your blog very interesting.
But I have some questions for you:

First, why were you believe that Jesus is your God? Would you have evidence that Jesus is God? Or that is only your faith? What do you mean about “Jesus is God”? Does this mean have not same with mean “God of the Universe”? Or that is only mean “man as God”, like ancient Egypt peoples call Pharaoh as God?

Second, what do you response? If you know that the “God” which attribute on Jesus is created by Constantine (the Roman Emperor at 325 AC) and the leaders of Christians in Nicea Counsel on 325 AC (After Christ). In this councel, Constantine made huge changes in the faith, like “Jesus is Son of God”, and “Jesus is God”. The Emperor Constantine took “Jesus Conception” from Apollo, the son of the Greek God (Zeus). At the counsel of Nicea in 325 AC, the New Testament Cannon was changed. The writings of the New Testament were changed to be the books used by the church since Jesus they call God (Jesus is Son of God, Jesus is God).

Third, how about this informations? Nowhere in the Bible is the day of worship changed from Saturday to Sunday. This change was not made by the Almighty, but by the Roman Church. Christianity was corrupted by Paganism. The pure Deism of the first Christians was changed, by the Church of Rome, into the incomprehensible dogma of the trinity. There are many similarities between the pagan god of Christ and the Christian version of Jesus. For example, Greek mythology tells of Christ bring born to the virgin Isis on December 25.

Fourth, how about this information? God is Allah, the One and Only. Allah is God, on whom all depend. Allah begets not, and nor begotten; and none is like Allah (The Holy Qur’an 112:1-4).

Thanks for you answer.
I hope we can be friend, although we have different perspective.
If you willing visit my blog, and read my article at http://sosiologidakwah.blogspot.com
And... if you love books, don’t forget to read The Holy Qur'an please...

Hi Aristiono. Is this your first name?

Thank you for reading my post and I will answer your questions, within my knowledge. I have not read the Quran

First, Jesus is God because he created everything.

John 1:1-3 (NIV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Genesis 1:1 (NIV)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Second, The answer to your first question is the same answer. It does not matter that Constantine, a pagan king, attempted to blend the truth with greek legends. There are portions of the New Testament that have been preserved from as many as 200 or more years before Constantine. The believe otherwise would be a matter of faith that has no scientific basis. Like you, I am not a Roman Catholic and reject their teachings that contradict scripture.

Third, Scripture does not claim December 25th as the birthdate of Jesus, and believing in the trinity is not necessary for salvation.

Fourth, As I said earlyl, I am not familiar with the Quran, but there are numerous verses in the Hebrew scripture that speak of God in the plural form. However, is a person believes scripture is corrupted whenever it disagrees with his theology, it is an issue a faith and therefore unable to be refuted.

I do hope you understand and believe my answers to truly be my belief. God has given us free will. Evidence of that is in our different beliefs. I will tell you this, to believe or not. I was an athiest until 1981, when God saw fit to speak to me personally. He cleansed me and forgave me. I love Him with all my heart. I pray that it is the same for you.

Feel free to write again.

Love, Pastor Don
