News From Japan
You may have heard that Japan had a major earthquake this week. There were actually three. I wrote to find out any news, and the good news is that although many of our people felt the shocks, none of our churches or people were harmed However, there were two deaths and 5,000 homes that were damaged. Japan has more than 300 earthquakes a year, and exports give the nation a 90% chance of having a devastating earthquake within the next 50 years.
Friday was the end of there youth camp, but I wasn’t able to speak with anyone there. I did speak with Showkichi Ito from Seya, Masahiro Seki from Kasugai, and Mitsuru Ishikawa from Miyuki. You may remember that Showkichi and Mitsuru have both been to Baden. On another note, Japan’s prime minister, Aro Aso marking the 64th anniversary of Tokyo’s surrender, was joined by about 4,800 bereaved families to pay respect to 3.1 million Japanese war dead. He also expressed his deep regret for the suffering Japan inflicted upon the countries of the world.
