Fear, Fear, Fear

The other day, I stopped along the road and gave a black man a ride to get gas. He said that he was disappointed because at least 20 cars had passed him by, even though he had a gas can with him.

I can understand why people didn’t stop.
1. They didn’t have time.
2. He was walking the wrong way.
3. It was not their problem.
4. Am I my brother’s keeper? (What?)
5. He was a stranger.
6. He was not their race.
7. Perfect love casts out fear.(Seriously?)
8. He was in Walnut Park
9. He was in an isolated area (the cemetery road).
10. The can could have been a trick.
11. He could have a weapon.
12. God does not give us a spirit of fear. (Stop It)

Don’t even get me started on finances, politics, the decline of society, the world and anything that paralyses us with fear.

Luke 12:4-5 (NIV)
4 "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
