The King Is Coming

As we celebrate this Christmas, we would be wise to remember not only Jesus’ birth but his return. As sure as you are reading this, Jesus is coming back. Similar to the Abrahamic covenant, around 2000 BC, it has been about 2000 years since his coming was foretold. Another similarity is that the Jews were instructed to keep watch, just as we have been instructed. Jesus was crucified between two thieves and we are told that he will come as a “thief in the night”. The Jews didn’t recognize Jesus because they expected to see a king and He came as a servant. He will return for us as a king, yet the king may be expected by some, to behave like a servant.

Finally, I would like to say that the Jews didn’t except Jesus, because He wasn’t what they created in their minds. Was must be careful not to make the same mistake. When Jesus does return, He will not be one of our possessions, we will be His.
